Susan Koppenhaver, Lead
I’ve been a Sweet Adeline for 17 years, and am loving every minute. I am and have been a section leader of both tenors and leads, Assistant Director, and currently going through the Director Certification Program. Before SA, I was a voice major at the Cleveland Institute of Music, and also received a BFA in Piano from Lake Erie College, too many years ago to mention! I have enjoyed being the pianist and Musical Director for many community theater shows, been a soloist for years in churches, a church choir director, been in community choirs, and enjoy all types of music. In real life, I have been a Health Administrator for about 25 years in various settings.
Quay Houchen, Bass
I’ve been singing all my life, first with a mighty foursome, including my mom, dad, and older sister. I sang in glee club and folk group in elementary and high school and a jazz ensemble group in college. I was a background studio recording artist after college in NYC for many years. I am currently pursuing television commercials and have even booked a few. I joined Sweet Adelines in 2001 with Capitaland Chorus, then in 2011 with Saratoga Soundtrack Chorus. I am currently a dual member of both choruses. I have quarteted throughout the years with Back in Business, Heart and Soul, Mocha Voca, and now Xstatic. I am currently a Credentialed Employee Assistance Program (EAP) Coordinator for a large state agency.
Cary Kruzansky, Baritone
I work as a Utilities Engineer at the Department of Transportation and have been singing since I was a child. Discovering Barbershop harmony after graduating college, I sang in quartets as a Tenor (in Sunny Side Up and Champagne), as a Bass (in Renaissance) and as a Baritone (in After Hours, Chordbusters, and now Xstatic). In the words of Irving Berlin - "Let me sing and I'm happy."
Carol Leiby, Tenor
I have been singing Barbershop for over 30 years. I am a retired Registered Nurse and when I’m not singing, which is seldom, I can be found in my sewing and crafts room, or spending some time with my five grown children, and 12 grandchildren. And yes, they can all sing.
Carol, Sue, Quay and Cary are Xstatic

November/December 2016 Sweet Adeline of the Month: Angela Dourdis
Capitaland Chorus had a very successful show in November, and one of the reasons things went so well was because Angela served as the show chairperson. This is a difficult task, with so many details to coordinate, but Angela made sure things ran smoothly, and she did it with grace, patience, and charm. Thanks to the efforts of Angela and many other people who volunteered their time and took over whatever needed doing, everyone was able to relax on show night and enjoy doing what we do best: singing and performing to share the joy of barbershop harmony with our audience! Thanks Angela, for being a great show chair, lead, and part of Capitaland!
October 2016 Sweet Adeline of the Month: Cheryl Chalk
In addition to being an assistant section leader for the tenors where she provides encouragement and musical leadership, Cheryl is one of those behind-the-scenes people working on special projects. Most recently, Cheryl has worked on a special event hosted by Capitaland Chorus, where local Girl Scouts and the craft of barbershop singing come together! Participants will learn and sing with Capitaland, with a unique opportunity to earn a special badge. Thanks to Cheryl for coordinating this effort and for getting the message of harmony out to our younger women!
Capitaland Chorus 2016 Woman of Note:
We are so proud to have Diane as a member of our chorus, and to think she has only been a member for a relatively short time! Diane was voted in as a member of Capitaland in November of 2014, but has already contributed so much! Being a Sweet Adeline for many years and having sung with River Valley Chorus, Diane is now not only a valuable member of Capitaland's lead section, but this year took on the demanding role of CCL, Competition Chorus Liaison, which she combined with plenty of timely information and a positive outlook. Diane coordinated all of our communication regarding the 2016 regional competition, which also included hotel rooming/accommodations, no small feat! We want Diane to know that her organizational skills, willingness to help, and her smiling face are appreciated, and we're glad to honor you as our 2016 Woman of Note.
