Capitaland celebrated our regional wins at a recent rehearsal. A trophy and medals are awarded to the first place small chorus.  Members also received medals for "most improved chorus" and fourth place overall. We're proud of our performance and excited to keep learning more about the craft of barbershop!

On Tuesday, March 21, 12:00 pm, in the 4th Floor Lobby of the Capitol Building, Albany, a rally was held in support of arts funding in the state budget. Mad Caps sang the national anthem to kick off the ceremony.

Senator José Serrano sponsored the rally, along with Assembly Member Danny O’Donnell, and other state representatives, and New Yorkers for Culture & Arts. Several arts and culture groups from across NYS attended to show their support.

Capitaland Chorus was excited to have the opportunity to work with Diane Porsch, director of Buffalo Gateway chorus, for two evenings as we prepare for Sweet Adelines Region 15 competition being held in Albany, April 21-22, 2023. The chorus competes on Saturday with 10 other choruses from the region, which includes Long Island, New Jersey, and other NY choruses.  Two quartets from the chorus will compete on Friday afternoon. The public is invited to attend; tickets are available onsite at the Empire State Convention Center.  Weather permitting, a "mass sing" is scheduled for Friday afternoon, prior to the quartet competition.

Our newest member, baritone Mary Sitterly,  is welcomed by her "big sister", Sherri Strickman.  Sherri will be a resource for Mary to answer questions about her music and about chorus events as Capitaland gets ready for our annual regional convention and competition.
